Why join the KSA?

Of course, as someone affected by Klinefelter's Syndrome either directly or indirectly, you are under no obligation to join the KSA, and there are several other organisations who offer help and advice, add to that the totally free access to resources via the website and it may be unclear what benefit there could be to joining.

  1. We cannot function without the membership fees and fund-raising of our dedicated members.  Your membership fees help to put the facts and help where it is most needed.  We are trying to get our booklets into every doctor's surgery/health centre in the country, we are establishing a working dialog with the researchers & drug companies who can transform the lives of those with KS - but we can only do this with your help.

  2. Access to more research and information - The KSA is engaged in constant research into KS, whether in the scientific literature, through the medical research bodies or directly among its members.  Be involved in this exciting work and bring hope to the men & boys with KS and their families

  3. Newsletter - stay informed of what is going on, read the stories of members, get insight into the latest news and information, have your say.

  4. Annual conference - an opportunity to meet other members, attend presentations from researchers, doctors and organisations with real experience in engaging with KS.  Have the opportunity to ask questions.  Probably the highlight of the day is being among others who understand what YOU are going through and to share ideas, support each other and BUILD REAL FRIENDSHIPS.

  5. Activity weekends - everyone who goes knows these to be very special weekends that can transform lives and build bonds.  They are not just about what we do, but about doing these things together, sharing the happiness and stresses, the victories and the shortfalls.  Whether you are an active person or someone who prefers to go for quiet walks, these weekends of climbing, canoeing, walking, running along riverbeds, abseiling and rock-hopping will remain in your memory as a weekend of real peace.

  6. Have your say - you can be a regular member and influence the way that the KSA works, or join the Committee and be at the cutting edge of the KSA's work.  We are always looking for those who can read research journals and summarise them for general readership, raise funds, approach industry or prepare information

Pie chart illustrating that just over ½ of members are parents of KS boys, the remainder are adults with KS Each year at Conference we try to meet the needs of all our members by offering a wide range of activities and seminars.  These may include contributions from medical professionals, Educationalists, helpful organisations, bowling for the teenagers, a crèche and discussion groups.
